Dansville ArtWorks Inc. is serving as project manager for the Village of  Dansville for the installation of an historic mural on the south facing wall of 170 Main Street (Ossian Street side). The theme of the mural is Clara Barton, who founded the American Red Cross in Dansville. The Chapter 1 House is just steps away from this building at the intersection of Ossian and Elizabeth Streets.

A LivCo First Impressions Village Edition grant awarded to the Village of Dansville drives this public art project.

This is a summer project scheduled to begin June 24, 2024. The mural dedication is scheduled for 10:30am, August 10, 2024 (Heritage Day/Second Saturday Dansville). This event will be open to the public and followed by a reception hosted by Dansville ArtWorks at the Event Space at 170 Main. ArtWorks celebrates its tenth anniversary this year.

We are pleased to announce our muralist ... Melissa Stratton Pandina. She resides and makes her studio in Westborough, Massachusetts but has family in Dansville! Learn about her work at deshria.com or @deshriastudio.

And if you want a chance to say, "I helped paint this mural," join us at our Community Paint Party on Saturday, June 29, 10am to noon. Open to all ages 3+; the event is free, perfect for families, and no experience is necessary. Look for the Paint Table on the Ossian Street side of 170 Main. Using a paint-by-number process, painters will be assigned a number and given paint and a brush to fill in the matching numbered areas on the mural. Dress appropriately for painting and weather.  If it rains, the Paint Party will be held Sunday, June 30, same time. Note: Ossian Street between Main and Elizabeth Streets will be closed for safety. The nearest parking lot is next to Dansville Public Library.

An artist talk will also be scheduled.
